Caleb is Here!

Caleb Alan Tugmon is here! He arrived Monday, December 6th at 7:14 a.m. He was 3 weeks early but is doing great! He weighed 7 pounds exactly and is 19 inches long. We are at home now and doing pretty good. Mom and Dad are really tired and Caleb wants to eat all the time. I posted some pictures on Facebook. He had some professional pictures taken and you can find those online. They are only available for 10 days so hurry if you want to see them :)

The website is http://www.traditionsphotography.com/. Click on "hospital newborns" in the top right corner then click on "online gallery". Search for him by his first name and last initial or by the date the pictures were taken which was 12-7-10.

I will try to post more pictures on Facebook as we take them.

Made It Another 2 Weeks!

Well, I went back to school and have been back since the 15th. The first week was pretty hard. The kids were awful and I got tired really easily. Last week was a lot better and it was only 3 days too. We only have 3 weeks until Christmas break! Hopefully I can make it until then. I can't believe my due date is in 4 weeks. I am kind of hoping he comes a week or so early now. I am ready for all of this pregnancy stuff to be over with.

I started having contractions again this week. I called the doctor and he said that it is probably false labor. He said not to worry about anything unless the contractions get stronger or my water breaks. Neither one has happened so he must have been right.

Not only did I make it through 2 weeks of school but we also made it to Rochester and back for Thanksgiving too. I had some contractions while I was there and got pretty nervous sometimes but it was a successful trip. Brandon got to go hunting and we had a good time with family. Plus we had a huge meal.

I have to brag on Brandon for a little bit. He plays in a tackle football tournament every Thanksgiving morning (they call it Turkey Bowl). There were a total of about 20 teams in the tournament this year and his team won! This is the second time that his team has won in the past 4 years. They got a trophy that everyone on the team shares. He will get to keep it over Christmas break. Not only did they win but he did not get injured. There was a guy who broke his collar bone and another guy messed up his knee. Luckily Brandon was okay just very sore the next couple of days.

I will post a 36 week picture soon. We need to take it first.

Last Week on Bed Rest!

This is my last week on bed rest. I guess it is semi-bed rest this week. I went to the doctor last Thursday and she said she wants me to do a little more this week so I am ready to go back to school next week. She also wants me to stop taking the medication and only take it if I feel like I am having a contraction. I have not taken any since Sunday evening. I am trying to not overdue it by doing too much but it feels good to be able to get up and do the dishes or laundry. We even got the little guy's room ready! (I will have to post pictures.) I go back to the doctor Friday. Hopefully it is good news. They want to do another Fetal Fibronectin test. Supposedly if this test is negative (which it was last time) I won't deliver for at least 2 weeks. They say it is pretty accurate but I don't see how it could be. Hopefully it is negative though.

I have another baby shower Sunday! It is down in Rochester. I am a little nervous about being away from home and the hospital but if I do go into labor you would think I would have at least an hour to get back to Elkhart.

I also start back at school on Monday. I am a little nervous about that too. It is hard to come back after having a substitute. You can have the best substitute but the class just isn't the same afterward. I will have to go in Saturday to get everything ready for the week. After I go back though we only have 1 and 1/2 weeks until Thanksgiving Break and then 3 weeks until Christmas break. I am sure the little guy will be here by then. That doesn't leave too much time at school!

Here is my 32 week picture too. Don't judge it too harshly. I know I don't look the best but it was taken the day after I got out of the hospital.

The Little Guy's Room

Here are pictures of the little guy's room. We still need to put some art work on the wall but we need to find some first. I think we want to put letters above his crib to spell his name and then look for zoo animal pictures for the rest of the room. I even got the baby monitor put together and charged. I put together the mobile yesterday and an infant seat. They weren't too much work and I could sit down while I worked on them. Brandon repainted the walls this past Sunday. He didn't want to do it but he did it anyway. What a good husband! I guess the room is ready, now all we need is the little guy (but hopefully not in the next couple of weeks)!

Very Eventful Week

I thought I better blog to keep people updated on what has been happening. It has been a while since I posted anything.

Saturday the 23rd, I had my first baby shower! It was a lot of fun to see family that I haven't seen in a while. Brandon's family flew in from Oklahoma and my mom even surprised me and flew in from Arizona. We got lots of cute clothes and many other goodies for the little guy. Even got everything washed and ready to put away.

Sunday, Brandon felt ambitious and wanted to paint the nursery. We picked out a color and got one coat of paint on it. I have now decided that I do not like the color and we have to pick out a new shade of blue. Brandon is not very happy but he is not complaining about it too much.

We started our Childbirth Classes on Monday. It was pretty informative but I could have done without seeing some of the videos they showed us. They kind of made me more nervous.

(Now for the serious stuff). I felt pretty tired all week long but thought it was just because I am in my third trimester and getting bigger. I noticed on Wednesday that my stomach had changed shape and I wasn't feeling as much fetal movement. I called the doctor Thursday and told them what was going on. They wanted me to come in right away for a non-stress test. I really didn't think it was anything and was going to wait until after school to go but the nurse on the phone said I needed to get there right away. I got to the hospital around 12:00 and they hooked me up to the monitors. The little guy was just fine. His heart rate was great and they were picking up a ton of movements. The bad part was they were also picking up contractions. I was having one every 3 minutes. I didn't even feel them. They gave me a shot to slow down the contractions. It slowed them down to every 10 minutes. They also did an ultrasound and found that he was head down ready to go and my cervix was thinner and shorter than it should be. I was at the hospital from Thursday afternoon until yesterday morning. I am not feeling any contractions but have to take medication every 6 hours to keep the contractions from coming back. It is supposed to soften the muscles of the cervix so they can't contract. I am also on bed rest for 2 weeks. That will put me at 34 weeks when I go back to school. The doctor thinks that if the little guy comes at 34 weeks he will be fine. He weighed 4 pounds 10 ounces when they did the ultrasound and I was given steroid injections to help mature his lungs if he does come early. Now my goal is to keep him from coming for at least 2 more weeks. Hopefully I can carry him full term now. I have a feeling though that as soon as I start back at school and am on my feet all day he will come pretty quickly. While on bed rest I was told I can't do anything. Just sit or lay down and can only get up to go to the bathroom or shower. These next 2 weeks should be fun. I think I can deal with it though if it means the little guy will be healthy.

Welcome to Our Blog!

My sister talked me into setting up a blog. At first I didn't think I would because our lives are not that interesting. But she said that family may want to see pictures of my growing belly and our nursery. Everyone will also want to see pictures of our little guy when he comes. She had a good point. So here is our blog! Check for updates soon!
